In 2016, Berggren Architects was approached for the investigation and analysis of Concordia University’s Jesse Hall in Seward, Nebraska. In Concordia University’s 2011 campus master plan, the historic Jesse Hall was scheduled for demolition. While now defunct as a dormitory, we suggested that with an addition to the original structure, Jesse Hall could house modern classrooms, a galleries, the business department, and building grounds and campus security offices. In this attempt to salvage the building, we encouraged the design and installation of a storm water drainage system to alleviate the moisture penetration of the foundation and wall.
