Reconstruction & Restoration
Fort Robinson State Park – 1891 Officer’s Quarters
The original Officers Quarters at Fort Robinson State Park was built in 1891 and demolished in 1935.
In 2012, Berggren Architects was hired by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to lead the reconstruction of the quarters. Completed in 2015, the building has been reconstructed with modern amenities and ADA compliance while still retaining its historical context.
In 2019, Berggren Architects was retained by History Nebraska to return to Fort Robinson. We were tasked with leading a hands-on workshop for Job Corps students, training them in the proper techniques of restoring six historic doors within the park. Both the restoration of the historic cabin doors and the valuable training experience were a total success. History Nebraska is looking forward to future training sessions for the treatment of historic building features.
