Courthouse Trail

An Energy Conservation Project

Hamilton County Courthouse

The Hamilton County Courthouse experienced temperature fluctuations due to inefficient steam heating equipment, prompting window opening and electric heater use. The outdated system was replaced with a new combined heating and cooling system that features independent room controls, eliminating window air conditioners.

Renovation was contracted to McIlnay & Company on July 1, 1989, for $182,411. Delays occurred due to asbestos removal and electrical service issues, along with inadequate foundation support for the boiler. The project was completed on May 11, 1990, with a final cost of $193,434.
