CAP Assessment

Museum of the Mountain Man

In 2020, Berggren Architects and conservator Beverly Perkins performed a Collections Assessment for Preservation (CAP) for the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinesdale, Wyoming. The museum is owned by the Sublette County Historical Society, the oldest historical society in the state. Opened in 1990,. the museum is known for its interpretation of the 19th-century mountain man era. Alongside artifacts of the Rocky Mountain fur trade, Plains Indian culture, and the area’s natural history, the museum also hosts educational and experiential learning opportunities for all ages.

Though the Museum of the Mountain Man building is the main structure, the institution also owns seven other properties. In our CAP report, we focused on 12 structures spread out amongst the site of three properties: Old Pinedale, the Worl Property, and the Sommers Homestead Living History Museum.
