Wichita Art Museum
In 2014, Berggren Architects, in conjunction with objects conservator Judy Greenfield, performed a repeat Collections Assessment for Preservation (a Re-CAP) report of the Wichita Art Museum in Kansas. This iconic structure was designed by renowned architect Edward Larrabee Barnes and encases the previous historic 1933 art museum The primary structure was completed in 1976 with a building addition in 2003. Both the original CAP and the Re-CAP recognized the challenge of preserving and protecting art within a structure with immense natural light. In our report, numerous recommendations were included to improve environmental control, acoustics, and security.
