The Fourth of July (Independence Day) is a celebration of our Independence and our unity as a nation. On July 2nd, 1776, Congress would vote to declare Independence from Great Britain. 2 days later on July 4th, the text was ratified as the Declaration. 200 copies were printed by John Dunlap and the copies are known as the Dunlap Broadsides. One of the copies crossed the Atlantic reaching King George III (current king of Great Britain at the time). The official response would scold the Americans and their inadmissible claim of Independence.
